Uninstall the desktop app
Remove the Clevera desktop app from a Mac or Windows PC, including its settings, sign-in, logs and permissions. Your recordings and videos in Clevera aren't affected.
Uninstalling the Clevera desktop app removes it from your computer. Your recordings, videos and articles live in your Clevera workspace, so they stay where they are and you can keep using Clevera in the browser.
Before you uninstall
- Let any upload finish. A recording that is still uploading is lost when you quit the app.
- Sign out first (More → Sign out). This removes the app's sign-in from your computer. On a Mac it also revokes the sign-in on Clevera's side.
- Quit Clevera: More → Quit Clevera. On a Mac you can also press ⌘ Q or choose Quit app from the menu bar icon; on Windows, right-click the tray icon → Quit.
Uninstall the app
Delete the app
Open Finder → Applications and drag Clevera to the Trash. Empty the Trash when you're ready.
Remove leftover files (optional)
Clevera has no uninstaller, so a few small files stay behind. To remove them, in Finder choose Go → Go to Folder… and delete each of these if it exists:
What Location Settings, shortcuts and speaker notes ~/Library/Preferences/com.clevera.ai.recorder.plistApp logs ~/Library/Application Support/com.clevera.ai.recorderLast update download ~/Downloads/Clevera-Update.dmgRemove the saved sign-in (optional)
If you didn't sign out first, open Keychain Access, search for
com.clevera.ai.recorderand delete the items you find.Remove Clevera from privacy settings (optional)
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and remove Clevera (select it and click −) from Screen Recording, Accessibility, Input Monitoring, Microphone and Camera.
Remove the login item (optional)
If you had Launch at login turned on, open System Settings → General → Login Items and remove Clevera if it's still listed.
Run the uninstaller
Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find Clevera (publisher Clevera LTD), click ⋯ and choose Uninstall. On Windows 10, open Settings → Apps → Apps & features, select Clevera and click Uninstall.
You can also open the Start menu, find the Clevera folder and choose Uninstall Clevera. No administrator rights are needed.
Remove leftover files (optional)
The uninstaller removes the app but leaves your data. To remove it, press Windows + R, paste each location and delete the Clevera folder it opens to:
What Location Settings, shortcuts, speaker notes and logs %LOCALAPPDATA%\CleveraRecording working files and update downloads %TEMP%\CleveraThe
%TEMP%\Cleverafolder can be large: it keeps the working files of past recordings.Remove the saved sign-in (optional)
If you didn't sign out first, open Credential Manager from the Start menu, choose Windows Credentials and remove the entries for Clevera.Credentials.
Check microphone and camera access (optional)
If you only allowed desktop apps to use your microphone or camera for Clevera, you can turn that off again in Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone and Camera.
The uninstaller also leaves the link type Clevera uses for browser sign-in registered for your Windows account. It does nothing without the app, and reinstalling reuses it.
What stays and what goes
| After uninstalling | |
|---|---|
| Recordings, videos and articles in Clevera | Kept in your workspace |
| Your Clevera account and subscription | Unchanged. To cancel a subscription, see Cancel or restart your subscription. |
| App settings, shortcuts and speaker notes | Kept on the computer until you delete the leftover files |
| Recording consent (Mac) | Kept with the settings; you won't be asked again if you reinstall without deleting them |
| Recordings that hadn't finished uploading | Lost |
Reinstall later
Download the app again and install it as usual: see Install the Clevera desktop app. If you kept the leftover files, your settings and notes come back. On a Mac, if recording fails after reinstalling, remove Clevera from Screen Recording in Privacy & Security and add it again.
